I mean, they are GOING to bark, it’s what dogs do, but when my dog sees someone walk by my house, she will bark and bark and bark and bark even if they have already left.
Also, out in the yard, she will hear a bark in the distance and bark, bark, bark, bark, bark.
It’s embarassing! I can’t get her to calm down, i don’t know what to do!
She’s met so many dogs that i am sure it can’t be a socializing problem.
Also, when we are walking around the block and she sees someone at a distance coming toward us, she will bark until she’s sure they’ve passed us.
******HOW DO YOU GET A DOG TO STOP BARKING?
My dog barks and will not stop, when I get home.. or whenever I let her out. When she is outside… she runs in circles… BARKING… I can not get her to stop! If I go out there.. she barks louder. I end up yelling at her.
She is making everyone crazy. I have tried a bark collar.. it did not work. There are tons of toys out there.. she perfers to DIG!
I work all day, so she is home for 5 hours with our other dog. (Who does not bark !!)
Is there something stronger then a bark collar? Maybe a cattle prod? Or will that be too strong?
BTW… She is a pure bred German Shepard, and has been doing this for 3 years, but it is getting worse!
Thanks!
My dog is in here making a ton of noise, growling, barking, yapping, and I was wondering what his deal was until I noticed the sound of other dogs barking in the area, and one really loud Hoooooooooowl (sort of like a wolf sound but we do not have wolves in our area) n Alabama (we do have Coyotes but they yap more than howl). Why would all the dogs be acting this way? I have never noticed anything like this before and there have been no sirens!
we put our maltese in a large kennel-crate when we are at work during the day (about 8 hrs) becuase otherwise he will pee & poop all over the house. i think it’s normal for him to bark at first b/c he is sad… but he literally barks the entire 8 hrs, like about one bark every 10 seconds. he simply does not understand that we are not home to let him out. what can we do to get him to stop?

sound of dog barking you are listing is my pet dog TYson who wants to put your hand on me
Has any one tried the collar, and to what results. Also any one with a better way to acomplish the quiting. I forgot to clarify. This is a small inside house pet that gets disturbed any time an all terrain or vehicle goes by. I live in a remote area.
I got him from the shelter at 5 and a half years old, so I do not know his full history and how he developed this issue. But when I take my beagle to the dog park, he loves to chase dogs that like to run, (ie greyhounds, pointers, etc.) which is fine. However, if my beagle finds a dog that runs and the dog stops running, or if no dogs are running, he’ll start obsessively barking at the dog.
It doesn’t appear as if he’s doing it in a mean way, it just seems he’s trying to get the dog to run so he could chase. But my dog just seems so OCD about it and won’t stop. It is just annoying to the dog he’s barking at and to the other people at the dog park. What can I do to help him get over this behavior?
I wanted to help him to get over this because I have another beagle that loves going to the dog park and would like to continue take them both. Both of my beagles love running around the dog park and socializing, it’s just this one issue with him obsessively barking at another dog that is keeping me from going there as often as I’d like. Thanks
I do understand about beagles being hunting dogs and that they do bark and howl and love to chase. However, the issue I am describing seems to be something more. My beagle will bark in a dog’s face when they are not moving. It’s something more then normal beagle barking. I have another beagle that doesn’t do this and have not seen other hounds at the park do this either.
How can I help my beagle from not barking in other dogs faces when they aren’t running around? Thanks
I do not mind when my beagles bark and bay normally, it’s just when my boy beagle barks in a dogs face trying to get them to run and play. It just seems to annoy the owners of the dogs he’s barking at much of the time.
My rat terrier has a high pitched bark….for some reason she has started to bark when someone comes to the front door….this is a fairly new annoyance….she would usually yap a couple of times at the door, but now it is endless until the door is answered or she is put outside….someone suggested a water gun. Another suggested a shock collar….I do not want to hurt her in any way. She is a sweet dog otherwise. The whole house echoes when she barks and wakes up people or interferes with conversation. She is 2 years old, she has been fixed, and is otherwise a great lap dog.
