I live in an apartment complex and management sent everyone in the complex a note stating that someone filed a complaint about someones pet. They listed a bunch of thier pet policies (which didn’t pertain to us) then the last sentence said that if any tenants pet is found to be an inconvinience to anyone else living in the building, that tenant will be billed extra to thier monthly rents. Then today one of my nice nieghbors informed me that my dog barks ALL DAY LONG and maybe someone complained about him. I really don’t want to lock him in our bathroom while I’m at work, but I can’t afford an extra a month and possible eviction. Can anyone please give me some good advise?

My brother and I just moved into an apartment together and i have 5 yr old yellow lab. we work the same hours most of the time. But she is barking alot when we are gone from home. I have put a bark collar on her and give toys and bones to keep her occupied but it doesn’t work. We got a complaint from a tenant in our building. I don’t know what to do! please help or give ideas

He is a 7 month old pomeranian, I’ve had him for about a month now and I live in an apartment, so there is a lot of action going on through out the day. He barks at nearly all sounds and I don’t want my neighbors to start complaining.

what I’ve been doing to try and teach him that I don’t like his barking is anytime he barks I tell him no! and then remove him to a quiet room for a few minutes, I’ve been doing this for about a week and I haven’t seen too much improvement. So if I just keeping be consistent should this work? I don’t want to be cruel and I want to be sure that he gets the message.

He also barks and lunches at people on walks, hes not being aggressive but he has a scary bark for a small dog so people tend to just keep walking instead of letting him sniff. the barking on walks isn’t too bad but its not very fun walking with a dog that barks at everyone walking by, any way I could teach him not to do this as well?

thank you!
yeah, I’d like serious answers.
thanks. -.-

I have a 3 year old Lhasa Apso who barks non stop! She barks whenever she hears someone outside, or someone other than myself or my mother comes in the door. And then she doesn’t stop barking until about 30 minutes after that person is still in the house. I have another dog who doesn’t do this, and I would think she would learn from him. I need her to learn its not ok to do this as I’m thinking of getting an apartment and that simply won’t work. Some people suggested a "bark collar" however I’m somewhat weary of them, I think they’re someone cruel. I need a safe yet effective way to get her to stop that won’t take years to correct. Help!

So my 2 year old Aussie/Corgi is an amazing dog and very sweet, except when I’m gone. When I come home from being gone for a couple of hours, I walk into a house that’s pretty much in shambles! I look on the floor and she has chewed up all kinds of things! She will take things from other rooms bring them in the living room (where the front door is) and just tear things up! I can’t even walk out to my car for a few minutes without her barking the and scratching at the door the entire time. I don’t like to put her in a crate because she will bark the ENTIRE time I’m gone. I use to live in an apartment and when I would leave I would put her in a crate. One day I came home and my next door neighbor put a note on my door telling me to make my dog stop barking/yapping because she did it the whole time I was gone. So when I started leaving her out while I was gone she would only bark for a few minutes but tear up everything she could reach. Needless to say I just need some help on fixing the chewing and barking problem!!! Please help me someone!!!

I have a six month old Yorkie who weighs about 2 lbs. I have had her since she was little, but lately her barking has gotten out of control. I work full time during the days and have online classes in the evenings and I noticed that she has started just staring at me and barking non-stop for no reason. I would drop everything I was doing and play with her, but the moment I was back to work she was barking again. I thought maybe she was just lonely, so I adopted a kitten from the shelter so she had someone her size to keep her company. But any moment the cat is not playing with her she is barking again. I live in the lower apartment of a duplex, and although my upstairs neighbors say the barking doesn’t bother them I know they have to be hearing it. I tried giving away the dog and she didn’t eat for four days, so my friend brought her back to me. I got these little boxes you sit around the room that are supposed to prevent barking, but they do not have any affect on her. I have also started putting her in her kennel for time outs, but then she ends up spending the majority of her day closed up in the kennel and is barking again moments after I let her out. I don’t want to have to get rid of her, but it is driving me crazy. I find that I have almost a constant headache from the barking and have trouble concentrating on homework. I wont use a shock collar, because I think they are cruel and she is too small. Any suggestions?

I just adopted a 1 yr old dog from the pound and I live in a apartment. I cant have him barking cause I will get in trouble if he makes too much noise. Every time I leave him alone in the house to go out he barks and doesn’t stop what can or should I do? I cant always stay home with him! please help! TY

i have a 70lb goldendoodle who is not use to noises living in an apartment. i’ve had formal complaints to managment & it’s a problem. when i’m at home she will bark when she hears noise, but i quickly make her stop. but when i’m not home is when the barking is non-stop. i tried drowning out some noise by leaving the tv on, but apparently that hasn’t been working either. i have to keep the blinds shut (vertical through out the living & bedroom area) otherwise she will bark at the people outside as well.
and i’ve been reading up on different collars, but there are so many to choose from that this is becoming overwhelming. i have came to the conclusion that it will have to be an automatic (for when i’m not home) and probably a static or shock, as they call it..type of collar. any suggestions on what specific brand or style?

He’s a 6 month old Cockapoo, he barks at any sound he hears, we live in an apartment and of course that doesn’t help since there are people coming in and out of the complex all day long. I’ve tried the newspaper, the spray bottle with 1/2 water/vinegar mix, I’ve tried the collar not the one that shocks them but the one that makes the high pitched noise, they all worked temporarily and then just went back to the same old barking HELP!!!!!!!!!

She is a four pound long hair chihuaha/rat terrier mix about eight months old now.

It is getting absolutely ridiculous. I live in an apartment complex, and every time a neighbor talks outside, shuts their door loudly, and closes their car door, she barks as loudly as possible to let us know.

I always tell her no, and hold her and pet her so she will calm down, but it doesn’t work as well as it used to. I am getting at my wits end here!

Any real advice would be great. Thanks!
