I have a 6 lb. Pomeranian 1 1/2 years old. She has been barking a lot recently. Can anyone recommend a bark collar-the shock one or spray one? Or some other method to get her to stop barking as much??

I have a 13 pound cavalier king charles spaniel, and she is a non- stop barker. I was thinking about getting her a no- bark collar, but I’m not sure how well it would work to stop her from barking and if it is too harmful to her.

I have a 3 year old Lhasa Apso who barks non stop! She barks whenever she hears someone outside, or someone other than myself or my mother comes in the door. And then she doesn’t stop barking until about 30 minutes after that person is still in the house. I have another dog who doesn’t do this, and I would think she would learn from him. I need her to learn its not ok to do this as I’m thinking of getting an apartment and that simply won’t work. Some people suggested a "bark collar" however I’m somewhat weary of them, I think they’re someone cruel. I need a safe yet effective way to get her to stop that won’t take years to correct. Help!

I have a 3 1/2 year old Great Dane. I have an electrical fence set up in my back yard, but this does not stop him from barking. He never barks when he’s inside at home but if I bring him to my boyfriends, he barks non stop when we are away. This has caused a lot of problems with his association.

I’m wondering if its too late to get him a bark collar and will it confuse him because of the electric fence collar? Any ideas? Maybe a muzzle?

Thanks for the help!
I think the bark collar is the best idea too. He knows where he cant go in the yard b/c he knows he will get shocked. I’m sure he will develop learned behavior to a bark collar.

I didn’t think a muzzle would work. He would freak out. I have a crate but he still barks in it. He just barks at every little noise at my boyfriends b/c he lives right in the city where its constantly noisy and I live in the suburbs.

I’m looking for a collar to help with my dog’s barking when I’m not home. I will not use a shock collar or a spray collar. I’m looking for one that either just vibrates or makes a sound. Any recommendations?
Mrs. Smith- I’m glad you live in a place where your dog can bark all day with no consequences, but I don’t. So no thanks for your opinion, considering I didn’t ask for it. I don’t need a collar to tell me when not to talk, because I know when it is appropriate. My dog however, does not, hence the need for a bark collar.
Well, since my question says I WILL not use a shock collar, I think it’s safe to assume I don’t want a ‘REAL’ one.

My dog’s are indoors 90% of the day but they love to go outside in our back yard to play. When I leave them outside, my male dog barks nonstop at everyone who walks by our house and every noise he hears. It is so annoying. Someone recommended a bark collar or a bark machine but I don’t want to hurt him. Any recommendations?

I am crate training my two month old puppy i put him in and he goes right to sleep but around three in the morning he will start howling and barking again so i take him out to go potty and bring him back in and put him in the crate. But he wont stop howling and crying i know he needs to go every three hours but when i put him back in his crate he wont stop i have tried everything the clock a warm water bottle everything but it just wont work. I have hardly got any sleep at all and i know my neighbors are getting fed up with it to. I am thinking about getting a bark collar but dont want to hurt him is it safe to get one or do they just harm the puppy?

My dog is a toy poodle and she barks like nuts anytime people come over. She likes people, but she will go crazy if she can’t run and jump on people (we keep her behind a baby gate because she gets aggressive when she finds stuff on the floor and you approach her–she will turn from a poodle into a pit bull and bite and bark and growl like a maniac!!!) Another reason why we need a bark collar. Anyways, can you find one that is that small? How much are they? Also, I am due in Feb, and if we can’t get her barking/agressive behavior under control, she will have to go. We’ve had her for 5 years–since she was a pup, and she is very sweet until you drop a sock or a piece of food accidently. Then she decides it’s hers. She has bitten my husband several times, so it’s impossible to spank her with your hand unless you want to loose a finger. Anyways, we want to break her of this–NOW. We’ve tried other methods, but none of them have worked.
We’ve tried "shh" and the can. She growls at the can, but great advice about the dog trainer! I’d NEVER thought of that! It’s fantastic–okay, now all I need is 0 bucks. Must be easy to get that kind of cash–you all have it. So, who wants to be the first to write me a check? No one? Really? Wow that is odd. Guess I don’t have hundreds of dollars lying around. It’s so easy to point fingers anonymously and crticise people, as if we haven’t been trying. I love how even though we love and care for our dog that we somehow wanted her to behave this way, and decided to raise her accordingly. I love how none of you have never had an aggresive dog. I love how you expect me to just run up to the vet and have our dog killed–the dog we adopted and vowed to love take care of like parents. (You know, becasue we want our dog dead.) This CAN be fixed. And as far as punishment goes, sometimes you HAVE to punish your dog, even if they ‘don’t like it.’ You are all worthless. Thanks for nothing.
