Hello,

Our roommate has a little to no-educated, noisy parrot that likes to make himself ‘noticed’ and gain attention by making those constant and noisy screaming most of the day. My girlfriend and I have been thinking about a solution and we came across the idea of using one of those barking control device/collar they use on dogs. The idea would be the same, every time the bird would scream and make loud noise the device would emit ultrasounds to distract and ‘annoy’ him until the animal stops screaming. I personally thought the idea was pretty genius, and although (trust me!) we have thought of all other solutions we could think of (including pet training and home relocating) this was definitely the best solution we could find…

I would like to know if anyone of you have heard of doing something like that and if you think it could work? Attaching a bark control device/collar to the bird cage might seem like a possible solution, but I wanted to ask you guys for advice or comment?

PS: Birds can hear ultrasounds, right?
Unfortunately as I said above we have tried to think of anything we could find, so of course we tried the thick blanket over his cage to attempt calming the bird… with no success unfortunately.
Some people don’t seem to understand that it is *not* our bird, as I said it’s our roommate’s. We can’t just give him away because we don’t have time for him, it’s our roommate who doesn’t take care of it as she’s supposed to and as I said this bird is just badly educated so he makes our lives a nightmare because he wants to gain attention from us.

and does it work? we bought a bark control beeping collar, its not shock, when she barks, an annoying noise goes off in her ear, suppose to make her stop, but she wont, so we need a shock collar, and im wondering if they work.

She barks 24/7 a big german shepard, we live in an apartmen building and she wakes our neighbors and us up at 6 in the morning. I hate this dog, but my husband loves her.
i know some of you people will try telling me that im torturing my dog, if you do, dont answers my question

My pug x boston terrier mix has a bad habit of barking constantly, we bought the "Pet Safe Bark Control" collar, and when he barks with it on he doesnt seem to be phased. It is the shock collar, im wondering if maybe it is working, and there usually isnt a reaction when being shocked? Or shoule i be able to see a reaction (like a whimper or something)

I would rather not call animal control. Has anyone tried those bark control devices??
