I have three dogs and I only want to use a barking collar as a last resort. I still want them to bark if there’s a problem, but not at every kid, person and dog passing by.

They don’t bark when they’re are inside only when in the backyard which has a well used path adjacent to it. It’s really only two of the dogs that are the problem, a female lab and a male rat terrier.

Sometimes saying "NO!" through the window helps but not always. I don’t want to bring them in when they bark because then they’re being rewarded.

Any ideas??? I would greatly appreciate hearing form someone who has fixed this problem with their own dogs.

I’m wondering if anyone has gotten one of these, what do you think of them?

Is there a less expensive collar that works just as well? I’m not a huge bark collar fan, so I don’t want to spend money on a non-effective cheap collar – I know he does not respond to scented ones.

I don’t want to leave my dog inside when the weather is nice and we are gone. Problem is, he constantly barks at the neighbor lady, even when we are home. I can give him a no bark command when we are home, but not when we are gone. She loves being outside in nice weather as well, and I don’t want my dog bothering her constantly.

Note for those who read too much into posts: I stay at home – when I am gone refers to times I take my kids to the store/ a friends house – usually a few hours every couple/ few days. I’m not leaving him alone outside with a barking collar for 10 + hours a day. His barking is not a boredom thing – he’ll do it when we’re all happily playing together, just to get this neighbor’s attention.
Ya know, I was going to let it go – people have their opinions and that’s fine. However, I find it crueler to leave a high energy large dog inside a small house/ crate than I am worried about something happening to him if left outside for a few hours.
He can always escape into the locked garage if someone decides to risk scaling the fence to corner him, although I’m not sure how they’re going to lift a struggling 90 lb dog up over the locked gate to get him out, but I guess I can see them throwing him an arsenic laced t-bone as a second choice… Ah well, to each his own, do what you want with your animals. I prefer to be kind and allow mine to run and enjoy his time apart from us. Perhaps your neighborhood is more chancy than mine, so I’m not judging your choices/ decisions – just thinking about the possibilities.

he barks at everyone walking by, even if they are on the other side of the road. and if some one comes to the door he is uncontrollable i need help he’s driving eveyone nuts

We have lived in a corner house for the last 3 years with our 2 small dogs. The last 6 weeks 1 neighbor & only 1 neighbor called the police over 20x’s complaining of barking (never before). PD has sat outside our yard on most visits & haven’t heard the dogs. The officiers agree that our dogs don’t bark excessively. They bark when people walk by and when HER cat is on the fence. We checked with the 4 other homes whose yards border ours, none had issues. Some didn’t know we have dogs! We bought a shock barking collar for the one who barks the most irritating (smallest collar made & to big); put up a bamboo fence to keep her cat off the common fence. FYI, this neighbor has asked us keep our grandson quiet one weekend cause they were sleeping in 0830 a; asked us to turn off our lighted trees; and asked us to change the time our pool filter runs; we have complied. We are good neighbors. If she would have asked we would have done something but she chose the police. Do we have rights?

I’m looking into getting a bark collar for my dog, mostly for barking, so far anyways. Would my money be better of spent on the "Barking Collar" or the other type of collar that comes with a remote.
Obedience class is going great! Very Smart pup! Just likes to bark, A Lot

Go to www.asseenontvcenter.com for more info on the amazing Barkoff. This pocket size device emits an ultrasonic sound inaudible to humans that immediately gets your dog’s attention and causes him to stop barking. Sit on your porch and quieten your neighbor’s dog. Great for home and outdoor use.

Someone said that a barking collar might help with my dog, but I’m worried about how much it will hurt. I want her to stop barking so much, but I don’t really want to hurt her.
My dog barks at… nothing really. I understand when the other dogs that live around me are barking and she gets started. But it’s when she barks at nothing that it annoys me.

I have a female shih tzu puppy who has a very high pitched bark. Every time I put her in her crate to leave she barks like it is the end of the world. I live in an apartment so I end up not leaving her in there. I have tried a barking collar but it doesn’t seem to phase her. I don’t know if its not going off or she is ignoring it. What else can I do to get her to stop barking when she is in the crate?
