Shock collar, ultrasonic collar, citronella collar?? My dogs go bananas as soon as I let them out in the back yard to do their business. They bark at the fence even though nothing’s there. What can I do to stop this? They are waking the neighbors.

I’m wondering if anyone has gotten one of these, what do you think of them?

Is there a less expensive collar that works just as well? I’m not a huge bark collar fan, so I don’t want to spend money on a non-effective cheap collar – I know he does not respond to scented ones.

I don’t want to leave my dog inside when the weather is nice and we are gone. Problem is, he constantly barks at the neighbor lady, even when we are home. I can give him a no bark command when we are home, but not when we are gone. She loves being outside in nice weather as well, and I don’t want my dog bothering her constantly.

Note for those who read too much into posts: I stay at home – when I am gone refers to times I take my kids to the store/ a friends house – usually a few hours every couple/ few days. I’m not leaving him alone outside with a barking collar for 10 + hours a day. His barking is not a boredom thing – he’ll do it when we’re all happily playing together, just to get this neighbor’s attention.
Ya know, I was going to let it go – people have their opinions and that’s fine. However, I find it crueler to leave a high energy large dog inside a small house/ crate than I am worried about something happening to him if left outside for a few hours.
He can always escape into the locked garage if someone decides to risk scaling the fence to corner him, although I’m not sure how they’re going to lift a struggling 90 lb dog up over the locked gate to get him out, but I guess I can see them throwing him an arsenic laced t-bone as a second choice… Ah well, to each his own, do what you want with your animals. I prefer to be kind and allow mine to run and enjoy his time apart from us. Perhaps your neighborhood is more chancy than mine, so I’m not judging your choices/ decisions – just thinking about the possibilities.

My husband and I have a Beagle that spends a great deal of time outdoors because she isn’t house trained. Whenever a person walks by with a dog, our dog jumps up and down, scratches the fence and barks/howls at them. What can we do to stop this behavior?
Our dog has already ungone "basic" training and knows simple commands and was crate trained as a puppy. But she’s stubborn and sneaky, which is why she’s outside more than inside (and the fact that we both work). So now that’s been established, is there any advice for this problem other than take her to training?

We adopted a wonderfull dog from the pound, an American Foxhound. He is 1 1/2 yrs old, very gentle, rarely barks. However, we can not keep him contained in the yard. He jumps the fence when he sees another dog, cat, or a person walking down the street ( he has to go out and greet them!) When he chases a cat he is on a dead run and there is no getting him back without an hour chase. Would a bark collar help. If we see him heading to the fence or if he has jumped could this be used as training? I really hate the thought of doing that, but we live near a major highway and I am so afraid that he is going to get hit. Help please.

My dog Jackie( Jack Russel Terrier) is known around the neighborhood for barking all the time. My neighbors even put up a private fence because she is so loud!! Help!

My 9 month old golden lab/husky has a problem with kids playing outside! He barks constantly and it’s to the point where we have to chain him up when he’s in the backyard cause he has jumped over the fence! What can I do to stop him?

She’s about 10 months old and has recently begun barking at anything that moves outside the window and goes NUTS when I’m walking her past a fence with other dogs. She was so difficult to control I could barely hold onto her leash. A stern NO doesn’t work, and I will not scold her with any hitting. (Besides it just being cruel, she was a rescue and was beaten prior to getting her, so it’s not an option.) This is a new development (past two weeks or so) and I’m wondering if I can stop the barking. If it helps, she’s a mutt with German shepherd/Australian shepherd in her. Thanks a lot!

Maizy wants to play with our cat Betty, but Betty isn’t in the mood (she decieded to roll around on our patio). Watch Maizy do this funny-and cute-yawn/yelp! Maizy is 6 months old, she is a Boston Terrier. As you can see, she loves attention!

I have pleaded with the neighbors, was angry with them and I am about to loose my mind over their 2 dogs. 2 Weiner dogs NONSTOP barking, all day and sometimes night, because they are bored and neglected. Noone spends time with them, and the barking is beginning to give me headaches and everytime it rains the yard stinks like dog poop, just gross
The dogs dig holes under the fence, and leave their presents in my yard, it’s gross and unhealty.
Don’t missunderstand, I love pets…but it’s getting to be a nightmare.

I’ve been thinking to use the smart bark thingy that stops them from barking at the least, but I don’t know if thats actually hurtful to them. Any advise or feedback? Thanks!
