*Rate and Comment* I saw dogs on you tube howling a few months ago and I have been trying to get my 7 year old yorkie to howl since then. This is the video I took of him howling for the first time. The annoying person howling in the background is me.
My dog howling. HOORAY! UPDATE: On 14/01/10, Elvis was rushed to the vet with GDV (Gastric Dilatation-Volvulus). He had an emergency 4 hour operation where his stomach was re-attached and partly removed along with his spleen. He remained in hospital for 13 days under close supervision following several medical complications. He is now at home recovering from the ordeal (thankfully). THIS COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED EASILY: Unfortunately, like so many dog owners, we were not aware of GDV and that one very simple thing can be done to prevent this life-threatening condition from happening… DO NOT EXERCISE YOUR DOG SHORTLY BEFORE OR AFTER MEALS. Elvis and his owners learnt the hard way. Spread the word and make sure people find out the easy way. Google ‘GDV dogs’ and ask your local vet. xxxx

You have to wait till the end of the video. Mr. Buddy and Miss Sassafrass had just had their Hanukah grooming so I was trying to get a good picture of them with King Louie. We live near a firestation and when the truck howls, so does Mr. Buddy. We got lucky and got it on video. We’ve been trying to record this for weeks.

Nothing gets Keira’s attention faster than howling. For people moaning about her not looking like she has any wolf in her, -look at my newer videos. She’s grown up to look much wolfier. Though, it would be nice if I could get away with saying she’s just a Malamute/Husky/GSD mix without drawing incredulous stares more often, ha. Also, yes, higher content wolfdogs do not tend to make particularly good “pets”, as my room and backyard in their current state of destruction will attest to. (Sometimes skateboarding 8 miles isn’t even enough exercise/stimulation for her to not end up getting frustrated and destructive that day) Read up on them and ask around if you’re seriously considering getting one.
