we put our maltese in a large kennel-crate when we are at work during the day (about 8 hrs) becuase otherwise he will pee & poop all over the house. i think it’s normal for him to bark at first b/c he is sad… but he literally barks the entire 8 hrs, like about one bark every 10 seconds. he simply does not understand that we are not home to let him out. what can we do to get him to stop?

Grate/Crate Method of Kenneling is great for lapdogs. Why use a puppy pad, newspapers or a kitty litter box. With the grate/crate method there is no shredding the pads, newspaper or tracking. There is no eating the litter or other matter. You do not need to rush home or get up in the middle of the night. Your dog has a proper BACKUP PLAN if it needs to relieve itself. No unnecessary bathing. Less health issues due to bacteria.
