My dog barks every time someone comes to our door or walks by our house. We have tried everything, from attempting The Dog Whisperer’s techniques, to putting a muzzle on him when he barks, and using a device that sends high pitched sound waves when he barks. None of it seems to work, and now my parents want to use a shock collar on him! I’ll do anything, but I do not want to use a shock collar!
Please help me!
My doggy always barks when my dad goes away because he misses him. How can I stop him from barking without hurting him at all or putting a muzzle on him?
Thank you!
I have a 3 1/2 year old Great Dane. I have an electrical fence set up in my back yard, but this does not stop him from barking. He never barks when he’s inside at home but if I bring him to my boyfriends, he barks non stop when we are away. This has caused a lot of problems with his association.
I’m wondering if its too late to get him a bark collar and will it confuse him because of the electric fence collar? Any ideas? Maybe a muzzle?
Thanks for the help!
I think the bark collar is the best idea too. He knows where he cant go in the yard b/c he knows he will get shocked. I’m sure he will develop learned behavior to a bark collar.
I didn’t think a muzzle would work. He would freak out. I have a crate but he still barks in it. He just barks at every little noise at my boyfriends b/c he lives right in the city where its constantly noisy and I live in the suburbs.
I have a teacup/toy poodle. She is full grown and 4 lbs. She barks at EVERYTHING and everyone is so tired of it. This has been going on for a year. I try giving her a light smack, but that does nothing. I tried an XS muzzle, but then she just howls which is way worse. I tried a bark collar (guaranteed) and it was quite big but it worked about 2 times and she yelped and ran away. She stopped barking for that night. Then the next day I put it on and I guess she got used to it because no matter when I put it on, it never effects her. And I tried putting new batteries in. Someone pleasee help me!
I’ve had my miniature schnauzer since he was 6 weeks old. He is now 2 and half years. His barking has never been a problem until recently. He is extremely well behaved and has a very loving demeanor. While I am at home, he never barks uncontrollably. When I am away for the day, I’ve heard rumors from angry neighbors that he has on occasion, barked non-stop. There is construction going on and there is constant noise around the condo which I believe is the reason he has been barking so much. I’ve tried the sonic collar which emits a loud noise that is supposed to deter him from barking but it does not seem to work. I’ve tried the harmless shock collar but it does not stay in place so its not effective. I have resorted to placing a muzzle on him while I am away from the home. But I can’t stand leaving him with a muzzle on. He looks so miserable. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. He truly is an awesome dog when he is not alone, but his daytime barking is creating a huge problem.
It’s so annoying! He’s a lab/border collie mix and he barks at everything that goes by our house. Our house had really large, floor to ceiling windows and our curtains are slightly see-through, so he sees everything that goes by…cars, people, other dogs, birds…if it moves, he’ll bark. I’ve tried grabbing his muzzle everytime he barks and shouting "no", but he doesn’t listen. Somebody help, this dog is driving me nuts!
My grandma is sensitive and im only 12 yrs old! help!!! my dog is a red heeler, her name is daisy, and she already has a bark collar, she destroys her muzzle, and she has a choke chain!

I rescued a pomeranian from the shelter 2 years ago and she never barked so much before but this year shes being so Ornery and barks at everything. My fiance will drop something soft on the ground in my room and she will start barking all the way in the living room and wont stop until an hour later. I have tried the holding the muzzle thing and telling her firmly NO but that doesn’t work at all so we found a ultra sonic anti bark collar on ebay should i get it?
All it does is makes a loud sound well…it shocks too but i read i can turn that part off. do you think the sound would stop her from barking every time?
Thanks but i tried that allready and we have little iams treats too and i say shhhhh loud then wait and then hand her the treat and say good girl but this no longer works for some reason.
Thanks but i walk her EVERY DAY i promis you on that one she and i love to walk i have to walk my doctor said so. thats acualy the reason i got her is so i have a walking companion. we walk at least 30 min a day so please something els
I’ve tried teaching her not to bark when we let her outside in the backyard – I’ve tried calling her, bringing her back inside when she doesn’t listen -she usually only barks at night for some reason. My mom wants to buy a muzzle for her but i do not want to put a muzzle on here. Any ideas or products i can buy to help her/teach her to stop barking?

He’s an Australian Shepherd and whenever a friend comes, he goes crazy. He will not stop barking unless we put him where he can’t hear us or see us. I’ve tried to treat him if he stops barking but he doesn’t stop barking and scolding doesn’t work. The muzzle just makes him angrier and any spray makes it worse! He doesn’t mind being put into a room alone! What can I do???
He’s not so bad when walking past people but if I talk to strangers, he starts growling and then barking. At home, if anyone comes even into our driveway (that isn’t us) even a car, he’ll bark. Once they get into the house, he jumps and barks! I know he’s being protective but I want to be able to control him because he goes absolutely crazy!
