I brought my dog one of those non cruel ultra sonic anti bark collars and its not working at all. He dosent care, he looks stupid with it on but Im pretty sure he dosent care that we laugh at him. As it seems he was beaten by his previous owners I have to be careful of my tone of voice, any quick hand motions around him, as he thinks that you are going to hit him. How can I train him with out making him scared. I dont want to see him scared. Hes really tiny and a lovely dog and he is learning that we are NOT going to hurt him. But its a slow and painful process. How do I make him stop barking at things he is scared of with out making him scared??
I cant use loud noises coz he really freaks out, he hides when I wash the dishes because of the sounds…hes got a few issues we’re workin on atm ![]()
He is a chi x silky terrier so we are told. He barks at people coming to the door, cars driving pass, loud noises from outside (which I know is pretty normal as my other older chi x does the same thing). The issue is when he is outside. He will sit in the car port barking at nothing, some times the neighbors but when they go away he keeps on going. He’ll sit at the back of yard barking at nothing. Some times he’ll chase birds and bark. But he just stands at the back of the yard barking at nothing. He does this EVERY morning. I normally have to go outside and carry him in. Hell often sit at the back door barking. Its normally not triggered by anything, he just starts doing it. I think it might be a game but i just don’t know how to stop it. Iv ignored it. Gone outside and said ‘no’. Brought him inside. Threatened to shave his fur off
Im running out of ideas and I don’t want to get in trouble with my neighbors…
She’s fine at night while she’s sleeping, but during they day when we are gone she whines, howl’s and carries on. I know this because the neighbors have complained and I can hear her when I pull up in my car. How do I stop her? She is 10 weeks old, and usually only in there for about 2 hrs. at a time
Shock collar, ultrasonic collar, citronella collar?? My dogs go bananas as soon as I let them out in the back yard to do their business. They bark at the fence even though nothing’s there. What can I do to stop this? They are waking the neighbors.
Our neighbors informed us that when we are not home late at night our dog barks a lot. I do not want to use a shock collar, but rather the spray collar that just sprays citronella instead of delivering a shock.
What I want to know is do collars react to any noise a dog makes, or just barking? Our dog makes a lot of yawning noises and other chewbacca-like noises that are not loud at all, just more like her trying to talk. I do not want to discourage these behaviors because I love the chewbacca noises, I just want to end the barking. Will the collar react to any noise vibration or just the loud barking?
She is trained and will listen to commands. The problem is that she ONLY barks at night when we’re not home. She can’t respond to commands if we’re not home, hence a bark collar.
And I want a spray collar not because I think shock collars are cruel/abusive, my dog is very… simple minded, and I know she would think that we hate her for using one. She’s just not that bright and very sensitive. I have no problem with shock collars, I just know it would traumatize her.
I just moved into a new house and my neighbors wrote me a note asking me to get my dog to shut up. She just barks outside at everything. I really dont know what to do. I put her in the house at night but she is an outside dog during the day.
my dog is a very protective breed but he doesnt seem to like men 13 and older at all i invited my friend over he is 13 and my dog started to bark at him then when my sisters friends and boyfriend came over my dog tried to bite him and every time my neighbor goes in the yard on work on his garden all we can hear is my dog barking and when my neighbors daughter went out side and blew bubbles he barked at her too then we went to the park and hebarked at everyone then my friend thought it was a good idea to let him off the leash and he chased some guy and barked at him tryed to bite him and now no guys can come to my house cause of my dog i read an article about his breed and it said they dont bark without a reason bu i dont wanna belive it cause of my dog what cani do to stop his barking habit?
at night he always sleeps with me and he doesn’t bark at night just when he goes out side to play he always bark at the neighbors
My 11 month old lab barks at my neighbors whenever she sees them, and I can tell it really bothers them. They’re nice people so I would like to get her to stop but I would rather not resort to a shock collar. What other options do I have?
He is a 7 month old pomeranian, I’ve had him for about a month now and I live in an apartment, so there is a lot of action going on through out the day. He barks at nearly all sounds and I don’t want my neighbors to start complaining.
what I’ve been doing to try and teach him that I don’t like his barking is anytime he barks I tell him no! and then remove him to a quiet room for a few minutes, I’ve been doing this for about a week and I haven’t seen too much improvement. So if I just keeping be consistent should this work? I don’t want to be cruel and I want to be sure that he gets the message.
He also barks and lunches at people on walks, hes not being aggressive but he has a scary bark for a small dog so people tend to just keep walking instead of letting him sniff. the barking on walks isn’t too bad but its not very fun walking with a dog that barks at everyone walking by, any way I could teach him not to do this as well?
thank you!
yeah, I’d like serious answers.
thanks. -.-
My neighbors keep complaining about my Shih Tzu barking.
Now, they’ve said we’re required to make him wear a shock collar. I don’t like the idea of that at all, I think it’s cruel and I refuse to do that to my dog.
They shouldn’t be able to *make* me do anything to my puppy.
Is there any way out of this?
Thanks in advance. :]
I have an 18 month old bullmastiff x (big, beautiful and dopey) who has taken to barking at night and will not stop (mostly at possums and feral cats that owners are too lazy to bring in) I am in a rental property so I can’t let her sleep inside (even in the garage) she has a nice kennel and has dinner just before bed, so it’s not that she’s hungry or uncomfortable. I am only here for another 6 months, so this is only a temporary solution I am looking for!!
I want to get a vibrating collar, as I think these are the least cruel, and am worried that her snoring (VERY LOUD) will cause it to go off and stop her from sleeping. I love my dog and want to do the right thing by her (and my neighbors)
Please note, I specifically said
"I want to get a vibrating collar, as I think these are the least cruel"
As she is a BIIIG dog, she is a very loud snorer.. not a health issue, just a big personality and loud noises to match.
I have no objection to putting a collar on my neck that vibrates, and barking like a dog to trigger it…
