I have a 6 lb. Pomeranian 1 1/2 years old. She has been barking a lot recently. Can anyone recommend a bark collar-the shock one or spray one? Or some other method to get her to stop barking as much??
I just wondered if anyone has had positive results with this form of training. I read an article about one on Amazon.com and a bunch of people talked about how it worked wonderfully for them. Now i’m not saying i’m going out and buying one i just wondered what peoples thoughts were. No ranting or bullying here, just share your stories IF YOU"VE USED ONE!! If you’ve never used one and just think there cruel then your opinion is not needed. Is it considered a form of Negative Reinforcement like a prong collar? Any info appreciated. I remember as a kid my parents used one on our rottie to get him to quit barking non-stop and it did work, but that was so long ago and i was so young i barely remember it. With proper instruction and method can one be used safely without being painful to the dog? This article talked about one with a hand remote so you could give the shock or tic from a distance if the dog was misbehaving. Just wanted some opinions and info.. Thanks everyone..
Well this article was full of actual buyer testimonies, people who rated the product so i don’t think they were just dumb infomercial testimonies. but sometimes i read here about how bad they are, so i just wondered..
i have a 70lb goldendoodle who is not use to noises living in an apartment. i’ve had formal complaints to managment & it’s a problem. when i’m at home she will bark when she hears noise, but i quickly make her stop. but when i’m not home is when the barking is non-stop. i tried drowning out some noise by leaving the tv on, but apparently that hasn’t been working either. i have to keep the blinds shut (vertical through out the living & bedroom area) otherwise she will bark at the people outside as well.
and i’ve been reading up on different collars, but there are so many to choose from that this is becoming overwhelming. i have came to the conclusion that it will have to be an automatic (for when i’m not home) and probably a static or shock, as they call it..type of collar. any suggestions on what specific brand or style?
We are fostering a dog and he is very sweet but he barks so much so loud. The dog we own used to bark at the beginning when he was a puppy, but it was easy to train him out of it. This dog is an adult and was abused. He is great with everything else, but he is not responding to the no-barking training. He is also causing my quiet dog to start barking again.
I am thinking a bark collar is the only solution. What kind do you most reccomend? I do not really like the idea of a shock one, but I understand there are other types. Do they work just as well?
I only do not like the idea of shocking this dog because of its past, but I would use it. I would rather him be with me and my home for awhile than sitting in a shelter.
Do these things actually work? My dog barks at nothing most of the time and the neighbors are pissed. I wont use a shock or spay collar, so I was wondering if these things really work? And please, no smart ass comments about take ur dog in and train ur dog cuz he doesn’t like to come in and I’ve tried to reward him when he’s quiet. He just likes to bark.
There comes a time when we have to put our dog up (we can’t watch him at all times or perhaps there is another dog visting) we can not get him to stop barking. Should we ignore it and praise him when he is quiet or is there another way? My dog is a min schnauzer with a VERY high pitched bark.
it even happens when he is outside (if he doesn’t go outside of his own choice he stands outside the door with the high pitch bark).
This is different from the bark he uses when he sees other dogs (much lower)…
Where do you get the collar that sprays the mist not the shock?
It’s definately an ATTENTION bark because it only comes out when we have to put him up when we are at home. He goes in his pen every morning without fuss (with the help of a treat…but no barking)
