My rat terrier has a high pitched bark….for some reason she has started to bark when someone comes to the front door….this is a fairly new annoyance….she would usually yap a couple of times at the door, but now it is endless until the door is answered or she is put outside….someone suggested a water gun. Another suggested a shock collar….I do not want to hurt her in any way. She is a sweet dog otherwise. The whole house echoes when she barks and wakes up people or interferes with conversation. She is 2 years old, she has been fixed, and is otherwise a great lap dog.
My min doxie is barking CONSTANTLY while I am at work. I have tried kenneling him, putting him in the bathroom. HE IS RELENTLESS! i tried the shock collar, the ultra sonic noise, nothing seems to work! PLEASE, WHAT WORKED FOR YOU? He seems to get used to the shock and the noise…. (havnt used them at the same time)
PLEASE DONT TELL ME HOW INHUMANE THESE ARE! I am not looking for that response!!!
My dog barks every time someone comes to our door or walks by our house. We have tried everything, from attempting The Dog Whisperer’s techniques, to putting a muzzle on him when he barks, and using a device that sends high pitched sound waves when he barks. None of it seems to work, and now my parents want to use a shock collar on him! I’ll do anything, but I do not want to use a shock collar!
Please help me!
we have 2 labs male and female, every night they always bark at something the nieghbor`s are getting angry.
i dont want to use the shock collar cause its expensive and dont work to them
I’ve tryed everything I have a Pomeranian and she barks at other dogs, people, and everytime the doorbell rings. It’s so embarassing I cant take her anywhere. I’ve tried spraying her with water, telling her no, and even though I didnt want to I’ve looked for a shock collar, but she’s so small that they dont make one that’s safe enough for her, what do I do???
Well, i’ve had my chihuahua, Candy, for about 2 years now, and every single day, it’s the same thing, she sees our 6-month old Golden Retriever, she barks, she sees our 8-week old Golden Retriever, she barks, she sees someone walking down the street, she barks……she even barks at the air.She shows her teeth to them and tries to snap, she occasionally bites
I’ve tried pretty much everything on her besides the shock collar to get her to stop, I love her very much and don’t want to take her to the shelter or put her down, so, how do I get her to stop?
By the way……she’s not really the "playful type" and like I said before, she barks at the air too…..
she’s also semi-territorial, she thinks she "owns" a sofa in the living room right next to the window, and she will bite anyone (except my mom, dad, and brother) if we get near it….she also defends her bed from our other dogs
Hello,
My neighbour’s dog is a fabulous German Shepherd/ Doberman cross. He is friendly, smart and playful.
The problem is that he barks like crazy when he is excited. He barks mostly when his owner is around, and there are other dogs around. (my dog is usually around when we are out in the yard)
The neighbour is trying to work with him by grabbing his colar when he barks, and giving him positive feedback when he stops. But the behaviour isn’t stopping – dog only stops barking when owner has his collar in hand.
My neighbour doesn’t want to resort to a shock collar or bark collar until it is apparent it is time for a last resort.
The dog is 3 or 4 years old, my neighbour adopted him a year ago. Can anyone offer suggestions on how we can stop this crazy barking?
Thanks in advance!
Everytime someone walks by my house, my german shepherd just barks until they aren’t in view. She barks uncontrollably, especially if they’re knocking on the door and at the mail man. How do i get her to stop?
I’ve tried the squirting her with water, but she just continues and i really don’t want to get the shock collar.
I have a jack russell/fiest. He barks at everything and then he wont stop. I don’t want to get a shock collar because I feel it’s mean but if i have to i just might get it.
Our neighbors informed us that when we are not home late at night our dog barks a lot. I do not want to use a shock collar, but rather the spray collar that just sprays citronella instead of delivering a shock.
What I want to know is do collars react to any noise a dog makes, or just barking? Our dog makes a lot of yawning noises and other chewbacca-like noises that are not loud at all, just more like her trying to talk. I do not want to discourage these behaviors because I love the chewbacca noises, I just want to end the barking. Will the collar react to any noise vibration or just the loud barking?
She is trained and will listen to commands. The problem is that she ONLY barks at night when we’re not home. She can’t respond to commands if we’re not home, hence a bark collar.
And I want a spray collar not because I think shock collars are cruel/abusive, my dog is very… simple minded, and I know she would think that we hate her for using one. She’s just not that bright and very sensitive. I have no problem with shock collars, I just know it would traumatize her.
