she is a 0ne year old pomeranian and she is driving me and our family up the wall with her continual barking. when she barks we tell her no and she stops for a few seconds and then starts again, our whole famliy have to wear ear plugs to sleep!! we would never smack her and just wander what we can do to stop her from barking. i am on the verge of taking her to see a pet behaviour specialist!
unable to shut the door without the dog barking and also at night when i want her to sleep on the landing because me and the wife want to go to bed together without the dog coming in and she wimpers all night and occasionally barks so we end up letting her in because it keeps us awake and she is so persistent its a chocolate labrador
I have 3 shitzu dogs that live inside my house. it is nearly impossible to get a good nights sleep because they will randomly start barking for no reason late at night. I usually get woken up at least 3-4 times each night due to that. what are some methods that I can get them to stop barking? I am a bit concerned to use a "shock collar" because I have heard it can damage their skin?
I have an 18 month old bullmastiff x (big, beautiful and dopey) who has taken to barking at night and will not stop (mostly at possums and feral cats that owners are too lazy to bring in) I am in a rental property so I can’t let her sleep inside (even in the garage) she has a nice kennel and has dinner just before bed, so it’s not that she’s hungry or uncomfortable. I am only here for another 6 months, so this is only a temporary solution I am looking for!!
I want to get a vibrating collar, as I think these are the least cruel, and am worried that her snoring (VERY LOUD) will cause it to go off and stop her from sleeping. I love my dog and want to do the right thing by her (and my neighbors)
Please note, I specifically said
"I want to get a vibrating collar, as I think these are the least cruel"
As she is a BIIIG dog, she is a very loud snorer.. not a health issue, just a big personality and loud noises to match.
I have no objection to putting a collar on my neck that vibrates, and barking like a dog to trigger it…
We just got him yesterday so I expected some problems. He cried most of the night and we did not sleep much. How long until he can sleep for a while and not cry in the crate? He does have stuff to chew on in there. Any tips to help him get used to it?
Thanks for all the advice. He still cries even when we are in the room. We did not take him out with his howling, but have waited until after he was quiet for a while, then started again (thinking that is his saying he needs to go out, which seemed to be true). I have 7 kids and know about letting them cry it out. I’ll have to try the clock and the stuffed animal.
I am crate training my two month old puppy i put him in and he goes right to sleep but around three in the morning he will start howling and barking again so i take him out to go potty and bring him back in and put him in the crate. But he wont stop howling and crying i know he needs to go every three hours but when i put him back in his crate he wont stop i have tried everything the clock a warm water bottle everything but it just wont work. I have hardly got any sleep at all and i know my neighbors are getting fed up with it to. I am thinking about getting a bark collar but dont want to hurt him is it safe to get one or do they just harm the puppy?
There’s not much floorspace in my room so I let my dog sleep on my bed in the day, but if she’s there when I want to go to bed, she’ll growl and bark — very viciously! I have to do things I hate to get her off.
Is there a way I can let her sleep on my bed but still get her off at night peacefully?
My dog is old (so we’re not going to go train her), my father is the "pack leader" and she considers me and my room our "pack territory", so she has to be near me all the time.
By "not train her" I meant send her to obedience school. I am definitely looking things that I, personally, can do to help this situation.
P.S. Thanks for telling me to throw my dog in the garbage! Why didn’t I think of that sooner!?
Ah, sorry, I guess you meant "garage"? Sorry, the way you said it sounded rather harsh. I’m not throwing her in a dark and cold place, especially in this weather!
My bedroom backs up to my neighbor’s back yard. Instead of my neighbor’s taking their dog out for a walk every morning they let him out in the backyard at 5 am and he barks all morning. I have tried speaking with them but they have a no-care-attitude. I have tried being cordial but that did not work and my patience is running out. I need my sleep. Any ideas would be helpful…

My 2 year old dog is very hyper and restless, especially in the night. His barking disturbs sleep. So i buy an e-shock collar for him, to keep him quiet and well behaved in the night. What is your opinion about this?
the collar will deliver mild shocks on neck, that do not do any harm to the dog but make the dog well behaved and calm.
I have a 11 week old German Shepard cross who won’t stop biting my 3 year old. I know that when he’s a bit older he’ll be a much better dog, but for now he’s none-stop barking and biting. The first 6 weeks of his life were really tough, I took him from a home where the kids hit him and through stones at him. Most of the time he’s really calm, but then he’ll flip and want to play really rough. He’s been tided up outside on a run for a week now and he’s getting worse. He can still be really good, but I can’t trust him not to bite my daughter. Everyday I walk him 2/3 times, feed him bones and yelp when he bites me.
I really need some help. My wife wants to get rid of him but I really love him. I’m guessing i’m in the wrong.
He used to sleep in my bed, but kept peeing in my room and waking me to go outside at 3am.
I’ve had a trainer come to my house everyday for the last 4 weeks.
